★International Short Shorts

We're presenting 30 Japanese premiere short films from 13 countries. Short Shorts is proud to support women directors and the alternative point of view they offer from behind the camera. Each year we receive more and more shorts directed by women and want to highlight some of these exceptional films in 2006.In 2006 the Short Shorts Film Festival is proud to announce a new award sponsored by Movie Plus and Jupiter TV Co., Ltd. The “Movie Plus/Jupiter TV Award” will be presented to the winner of the International Competition. This new award aims to support and celebrate the talent and passion of young international filmmakers.

★National Short Shorts

Short films are a thriving genre in Japan. Please enjoy our national program which contains short films by Japanese filmmakers who are active in and out of Japan. We are presenting two special invitation short films,“RE: CYCLE” and “Iron” directed by Hiroyuki Nakano who is famous for “RED SHADOW” and “SF Samurai Fiction.” “Iron” is a Japanese premiere. In our National Program we will screen another three special invitation short films commemorating the year of Exchange between Japan and Australia. The festival continues to present the “SUPER DRY AWARD” (established by SSFF and Asahi Super Dry) to support the talent and passion of young Japanese filmmakers. We are proud to present a new film by Toshiro Sonoda (last year's “SUPER DRY AWARD” winner) titled “Tokyo Tenshi”, which Toshiro funded with the scholarship awarded to him in 2005. The film starts Akira Emoto and Motoki Fukami. Mary Wigmore & Gwyneth Paltrow
