So it seems people managed to figure out whether to eat before or after. There was a very good turnout for the Let's Travel! Program A tonite. We had 3 directors take part in the Q&A after the screening; Haruno Hayashi for "Go For It" (Ganbarimasuka!), Kazuhiko Sugimura for "Time of the Northern Akita" (Hokushu Jikan), and Festival favorite Naoko Tajima for "Heaven's Island" (Seishyun Mandara). All the films showed the charm and beauty of Japan in their own distinct style. Miss Tajima told us how she was able to enlist about half of the roughly 350 locals in the film but she encountered unique difficulties like one of the main characters having to leave the set all of sudden to go take care of his goats! Filmmakers! Be prepared for ANYTHING, especially on location in the country-side.
