Hey! Who are those good-lookin' guys?
Why it's SSFF MC DJ John & director Shinya Imaizumi of "River"!!
So we're off to a good start. For the 1st program of the festival we had a great turnout for the "STOP! Global Warming" program.
This is the 3rd year of this competition and we received over 300 submissions. I'm always amazed at the imagination & creativity of the filmmakers who manage to make films of this serious theme very entertaining as well as thought-provoking.
Director Shinya Imaizumi of "River" came to the screening and took part in the Q & A after the program ended. He was asked by an audience member how he came to use the river birds' nest as the main subject of his short film. Shinya told us that the river in the film is very close to his house and as he passed by everyday he began to notice the birds living there and started taking pictures of them. He is a photographer by trade and he soon realized that the river birds would make a great subject for a short film about global warming.
Coming up next, a new competition - the "Let's Travel! Project." Stay tuned.
See-ya
