Details of Establishment

The "STOP! Global Warming Competition" was established for the prevention of global warming. Using films with the aim of raising awareness of theenvironment and the various means of protecting it, the festival, along with the filmmakers and the audience, combines the power of visuals and strong story-telling to get the message across. To prevent further global warming, not only simple immediate effort but long term implementation of varied action is also essential. In this 5th year of the competition, we will work together with "challenge 25 campaign" (Ministry of the Environment). This year we received 218 submissions from around the world, reinforcing the fact that filmmakers around the world are highly interested in the global warming issue. That people around the world, through the culture of films, are facing this dire problem and are ever increasingly communicating via a worldwide network has a very important significance. We believe that through our festival, continuing to raise awareness about the global warming crisis and importance of the reduction of CO2 gases to people around the world is a very important undertaking for the future of our planet."
