Brillia Short Shorts Theater SSFF & ASIA 2013 FutureCity Yokohama Award
The festival is now ending this weekend, with two more days of screenings. The first screening in this Saturday morning kicked off with "FutureCity Yokohama Award presentation and screening of nominated films."The city of Yokohama and the festival will present the FutureCity Yokohama Award to the short film that best depicts a future lifestyle that is environmentally friendly through technological advancements, in order to raise awareness of the "Environmental Future City Yokohama.
"Festival Director Seigo Tono introduced Mr. Nobuya Suzuki, Deputy Mayor of Yokohama City who explained to the audience about the concept of the "FutureCity Yokohama," as well as its long time collaboration with the festival on promoting environmental short films.
The four nominated films are "Doron coron" (Japan), "El Ivneto" (Columbia), "Traffic Cone" (USA) and "Dug-Gu TV"(Korea), and the winner went to "Dron Coron"(Director Yuichi Ito).
Director Ito was absent, and the producer Etsuko Iwata accepted the trophy from Mr. Suzuki. Producer Iwata is one of the board members at TVK (Television Kanagawa), and she also commented on how "Dron Coron" was made with the idea of Director Ito.
The film was also produced in commemoration of 40th anniversary of TVK. After the acceptance speech by Ms. Iwata, a video comment by Director was screened, and he expressed his thanks on winningthe award.
The audience then enjoyed the four nominated films including “Dron Coron” along with "Unravel"(this year's Best Short Award in "Save the Earth!" competition) and "The Bill"which won the Best Short Award in "Stop! Global Warming" competition in 2010.
