Director of "The moon that fell into the sea" Akira Oda and of "Yokohama Dream" Kiyomi Omata and her casts joined the Q&A session.

"The moon that fell into the sea"
It took dir. Oda six years to complete "The moon that fell into the sea" due to his main job as a graphic designer. He has worked on the film whenever he could spare time on the side of his paid job, so generally speaking, it would have taken about one year to make this animated piece if he could have concentrated on working on it.

The idea of the film came from one letter with a distinctive poem from his French friend and he responded him with one illustration of a red shark with a moon in his mouth. He has got an entire story of the red shark and the moon while taking a bath. What kept him motivated to complete this piece was that after six month working on it made him felt "mottainai (Japanese for "don't want to waste")" and then after two years working on it, he felt more "mottainai". That kept him going for such a long period of time.

"YOKOHAMA DREAM"
Dir. Omata's first encounter with dir. Amir Naderi was when she went to see "CUT" back in 2012 and had a chance to talk to dir. Naderi about her idea. After a week or so, she got a call from dir. Naderi about the location for her film, which was the Jack & Betty, and dir. Naderi helped her out by introducing technical crews for her first short film "Yokohama Dream".

Dir. Omata also commented that she learnt various aspects of filmmaking through making her very first short and that was a great experience for her, although she regretted that her crew members must have experienced some difficulties working with a first-time director, herself. With her first film presented in Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia, she has set some goals for her further projects and is ambitious to submit her next project to the competition section for the future festival. Her casts also talked about their experience with "Yokohama Dream" and how much they enjoyed working on a set.
