Today we had two programs for official competition. We had more than 6,000 shorts from all over the world!
First we screened Asia International & Japan Competition Group 8.
Director and actors of one-cut short “Happy Lie” joined with us after the screening!
Director Taishi Shiode said he decided to make one-cut short because he thought it wouldn’t waste so much of his time, but realised that it takes lots of energy to work on it.
Noriko Kojima and Yuki Hoshino, who played roles said it took 7 times to make it to the end.
This short will be screening in other days during the festival, so please come and enjoy!
We also screened International Competition Group 7.
This group had four shorts that was chosen from 4,314. It included shorts from Sweden, Morocco, New Zealand and France/Germany/Bulgaria. So much diversity and was interesting to know each country’s culture. We also screened “ELLIS”, which featured Robert De Niro. The short is only 15 minutes long, but it feels I have watched a movie for its dignity that comes from him.
