SSFF & ASIA 2021will, for the first time in 23 years, open a 3D venue, "DOOR" Theater supported by NTT. To prevent the spread of the coronavirus, it is increasingly difficult to go to theaters in person. We have created a virtual venue where creators and film fans from all over the world can gather and interact online. We are looking forward to seeing you in the film festival’s 3D Theater "DOOR," developed by NTT.

Kai Xiang is a Singaporean filmmaker who has been making films that embrace the human spirit. Central to his creative process is to explore the motive behind every choice, sin and act of kindness. A process that he feels compelled to magnify in his short films.

Jonathan Langager is a Student Academy Award winning filmmaker and USC alumnus. His short film “Josephine and the Roach,” has won numerous festival awards as well as Student Emmys for Best Short Comedy and Best Director, the USC Faculty Award for Best Director, and a Student Academy Award in the Narrative Category

Kristof Deak

Kristof Deak made a career as an editor before studying directing at the Westminster Film School. He works in London and Budapest, directing fiction short films and TV programs. He is currently developing his first feature film.

The teach-in will be recorded and shown on the festival website and NTT website. Please be forewarned.

3.OPEN EVERYDAY DURING THE FILM FESTIVAL! INTERACTIVE VENUE IN “DOOR” THEATER

Interactive communication sessions open each night during the festival (06/11 Fri ~ 06/21 Mon), from 21:00 ~ 22:00! Specially opened for past SSFF & ASIA participating creators & film fans everywhere for talk & discussion sessions! Possible participation from that day’s Q&A directors & creators. This is your chance to mingle with creators from around the world.

DJ JOHN JOHN HAGGERTY

Has worked in music-related work since he was a university student, and is a fan of a wide range of music regardless of genre, old and new. An avid movie lover. Making use of his background as a Japanese/American familiar with both cultures, works as a DJ & MC with a unique perspective. Hobbies: Movies, reading (especially mysteries), bike riding, baseball, & bowling. Special skills: cooking (especially Italian) *Except days when the festival director of the film festival will serve as MC.
