In 2004 the Short Shorts Film Festival was recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as a qualifying festival in the short film categories for the annual Academy Awards®. The festival continues to acquire its solid reputation as a qualifying festival all over the world and to be a hub of short visual content in Japan. SSFF welcomed the year 2007, the 9th year and the 4th year for SSFFA. As a satellite venue, SSFF used Cinemavera in Shibuya for the first time.
