イランの首都テヘランに住む少女ローズは、母親と犬と一緒に暮らしている。彼女はある日、隣人たちが羊を殺しているのを目撃する。母親は、羊殺しは伝統的な儀式だとローズに教え、肉は調理され人々に分け与えられるのだと諭す。しかし現代に依然として古い慣習を続けていることが、ローズの目にはバカらしく映るのだった。
