For today’s first screening, the director Yuri Takano and the producer Hayato Yokoyama from “Painter” appeared as guests for the after screening talk session. They are both members of production company(mainly for TV program). Yuri said one of the differences between short film and TV comedy show is she doesn’t need to specify details for TV show as comedian performs on their own freely. They had one comedian Takayuki Knottier for their film, they worked with him for their regular comedy show. It is very nice that short film project comes up from other.

The second program is German Animation program which is specially curated for the festival in Osaka. Jan Koester, the director of the two animation we screened appeared as a guest, he just attended one of the world’s big film festival in Canada, Toronto International Film Festival and shared his experiences showing photo slides he took in Toronto. He talked about his animation production process and declared he drew 20000 pictures for about 13min film and it took about three years, plus he has mostly done it by himself.

For the special attraction to cheer up Children Program was hula dance performance. A number of family audiences with kids enjoyed the world of short films as well as hula dance show they rarely get to see.

The last screening for today was Award Winning Program and the production manager of “Moon of Sleepless Night”, Megumi Kaneko appeared for the talk session. According to her, this stop motion animation film is unique in a way they use moving objects. The director’s new feature film “Norman the Snowman” will be released in this winter.

There will be more screenings tomorrow, the weather won’t be so nice, but film festival would be nice way to spend the last day of long weekend!
