[Report] CINEMA MUSEUM – Special Fall Screening Event – Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, Day 1

[Report] CINEMA MUSEUM – Special Fall Screening Event – Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, Day 1

Today marked the first day of “Cinema Museum – Special Fall Screenings” at Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, after we launched the event at Andaz Tokyo, the other event venue, last night. Starting at 10:30 in the morning, we screened a total of four short film programs today, each approximately 70 minutes in length.

Many of the early birds here first thing this morning had reserved tickets for programs throughout the day, so we had the pleasure of welcoming returning visitors to watch multiple programs.

Our most popular program of the day proved to be the “Academy Awards® & Cannes Film Festival Award-Winning Short Film Program,” which featured films such as “The Phone Call,” winner of the 87th (2015) Academy Awards® Best Short Film (Live Action) and “Waves ’98,” an award-winning co-produced animation from Lebanon and Qatar. Following closely after this, we also had a fantastic turn out for the “Japan and Asia Short Film Program,” the last screening of the day. Attendees were able to enjoy a variety of shorts, both brand-new and some a little older, including Royston Tan’s early work, “D.I.Y.”

Visitors to the event commented on how impressed they were at the auditorium, which makes a fantastic cinema. The large screen and excellent sound system offer the prefect environment for enjoying the atmospheric screenings.

We also had the pleasure of welcoming a range of overseas guests, from across North America, mainland Asia and Europe. Many of them commented on the variety of shorts, enjoying programs such as the “Hollywood Star Short Film Program” and the “Audience Choice Short Film Program,” and some of them intended to come back for additional screenings later in the week.

Tomorrow we will show a range of programs, including the “Art Short Film Program,” which will have its premiere screening at Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum at 12:10. We will also hold a special screening event with AKB48 group.
