Video summary for South East Asia Symposium!

Achieving high levels of economic growth over recent years, Southeast Asia has become a “center of growth,” receiving much attention from other countries. To promote cultural exchange and collaboration between Japan and other fellow Asian countries, the Japan Foundation Asia Center was established in April 2014.

With the Asia Center, the film festival has begun a new screening and symposium program featuring 11 countries in Southeast Asia. This partnership will continue into 2016. This year screened films from six countries, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Singapore, Timor-Leste, and the Philippines in the Southeast Asia Program. We also invited panelists from the film industries in these countries to join the “Symposium on the current status and future of Southeast Asian short films.” With the screening program and the symposium, deep insight was offered into what Southeast Asia is facing “now!”
