Toshihiro Hanyu’s “good-bye” will be screened at Cairo International Film Festival!
Toshihiro Hanyu’s “good-bye”, one of the “ndjc: New Directions in Japanese Cinema 2014” project films organized by VIPO (Visual Industry Promotion Organization), will be screened at Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) held in Egypt. The festival, launched in 1976, is one of the oldest film festivals in the Middle East, now celebrating its 37th edition. The film “good-bye” has been selected to screen in the “Cinema of Tomorrow International Competition”, which is one the programs held parallel to CIFF. Director Toshihiro Hanyu will travel to Cairo to attend the screenings.

Noriko Misaki works as a temporary employee in the cleaning plant. Her eldest daughter, Hana and her second daughter Kaze, wait on the street for the return of their mother. When the sisters recognize the figure of the mother, they rush over to her. The family is seemingly happy but they don’t have a place to live. They are staying at an internet café. One day Noriko’s job contract is terminated by the factory, and Hana comes to feel dissatisfaction with her present life. Noriko looks for a new job but it does not work. What will happen to them?
