We are happy to release the latest shortlist from among the entries for the Academy Awards\u00ae eligible categories (Live-action Competition, Animation competition, and Non-fiction competition) for the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2024.
\nIn October, we received a total of 377 entries. In particular, there were many entries from the United States, Japan, France,\u3000China, and Canada, as well as Azerbaijan, Bahrain, and Malta. 40% of the submitted films were directed by female filmmakers, 30% from first time filmmakers, & 29 % were student projects. Regarding duration, 28 % were under 10min, and 10% were under 5 min. We have seen an increase in comedies, especially in the Live-action Competition, Japan. Most of them were surreal situational comedies and yet somehow funny and believable!<\/p>\n

Now only one month remaining until the submissions deadline. We\u2019re looking forward to many more submissions from you. Get them in before the rush starts!<\/p>\n

Festival selections will be made from among the shortlisted films. The shortlist films will be selected monthly until the end of March, 2024 and will be uploaded on the festival’s official website by the end of April, 2024.This month’s shortlist is mainly for films submitted by the end of October, but the timing of the announcements may vary.<\/p>\n
