We are proud to announce the latest shortlist from among the submissions for the Academy Awards\u00a9 eligible categories (Live-action Competition, Animation competition, and Non-fiction competition) for the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In December, we received a total of 246 entries. The most submissions were from the United States, Japan, China, United Kingdom, and Sweden followed by Angola, Kosovo, and Malta. 44% of the submitted films were directed by female filmmakers, 26% by first-time filmmakers, & 27 % were student projects. Regarding durations, 30 % were under 10min, and 11% were under 5 min. there were many shorts with Motherhood as a theme this month, films about pregnancy, and young mothers wondering what will be the future will be for them, wondering if this will be the end of their own, \u201cnormal\u201d lives like going to work or school. 10% of the submitted films were comedies, rom-coms set in weddings, etc., also comedy heist films with clumsy and funny characters stood out!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today is the final day for accepting submissions in the U-25 & Branded Shorts competitions. We look forward to your submissions!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Festival selections will be made from among the shortlisted films. The shortlist films will be selected monthly until the end of March, 2024 and will be uploaded on the festival’s official website by the end of April, 2024.This month’s shortlist is mainly for films submitted by the end of December, but the timing of the announcements may vary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
