{"id":16109,"date":"2025-02-17T20:20:16","date_gmt":"2025-02-17T11:20:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/shortshorts.org\/content\/?post_type=news_en&#038;p=16109"},"modified":"2025-02-17T20:20:17","modified_gmt":"2025-02-17T11:20:17","slug":"ssff-asia-2025-global-spotlight-award-shortlist-vol-2-is-announced","status":"publish","type":"news_en","link":"https:\/\/shortshorts.org\/content\/news_en\/creators\/ssff-asia-2025-global-spotlight-award-shortlist-vol-2-is-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"SSFF &#038; ASIA 2025 Global Spotlight Award Shortlist Vol.2 is announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"670\" height=\"380\" src=\"https:\/\/shortshorts.org\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/SSFF-ASIA-2025-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16107\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shortshorts.org\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/SSFF-ASIA-2025-1.jpg 670w, https:\/\/shortshorts.org\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/SSFF-ASIA-2025-1-300x170.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 670px) 100vw, 670px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SSFF &amp; ASIA 2025 annonced the shortlist vol. 2 for this year\u2019s Global Spotlight Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This Award is given to a work outside Japan which conveys the present of the world in a changing world and opens up new possibilities for a filmmaker and supports short films that unites the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2021, Travon Free\u2019s 2020 Black Lives Matter themed, Oscar(R) winning short film \u201cTwo Distant Strangers\u201d, in 2022, NFT animation \u201cRoborovski\u201d (Australia) by Tilda Kobham-Harvey and Dev Petal (\u201cHotel Mumbai\u201d) , and in 2023, Korean star Seo In Guk\u2019s directorial short film \u201cTrap by Seo In Guk\u201d had been selected as the Global Spotlight Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2024, Music Drama by Korean pop star Stray Kids \u201cStray Kids \uff1c\u6a02-STAR\uff1e SKZFLIX\u201d won the award and showed high attention to the Korean music short.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The shortlist will be announced monthly from and the final award will be announced in the SSFF &amp; ASIA 2025 in June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For the 2nd shortlist for the Globasl Spotlight Award 2025,\u00a0Following 2 short films are nominated:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8220;Loser Baby&#8221;, a comedy-drama directed (directorial debut) and produced by Dakota Johnson (&#8220;Madame Webb&#8221;), about a queer woman whose friends&#8217; expanding conceptions about their relationships gets her wondering about the state of her own.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8220;Little Shrew (Snowflake)&#8221; , an animation film written, directed and scored by English singer-songwriter Kate Bush. She said of the film: \u2018In 2022, war broke out in Ukraine and I wanted to make an anti-war animation.
