It is a prestigious festival and an important platform for short film screenings. It was also the premiere of “Father” in Japan, and I was very happy to be able to meet the public and exchange opinions about the film. I was curious to find out what the Japanese public would make of the film, which was made in such a different social and cultural context, and to see if the public would be carried away by the emotions of the film’s story. The enthusiastic reaction the film received from the Japanese public greatly touched me, and I felt that the issues evoked in the film are also genuine concerns for Japanese society.

Father

JAPAN Competition Best Short Award
Governor of Tokyo Award Winner： Tsukasa Kishimoto

It is often said that short films are not well commercialized in comparison to feature films, and that they are made merely for promotion purposes. I believe, however, that short films are not created to serve such ends, but that they exist as standalone works. SSFF & ASIA spreads the charm of short film to the masses, and it harbors the “POWER of FILM”. Screening at this festival gave me the opportunity to introduce my film to a wider audience, and to talk with many people about my work. Most importantly, attending SSFF & ASIA offered me the chance to realize just how many short films exist in the world. People face severe problems all over the globe, and, though the medium of film, this festival allowed me to feel close to many distant countries that I’ve never travelled to. To send your ideas and creations out into the world, and, in turn, to gain a sense of the thoughts of other international creators – this is the significance of attending SSFF & ASIA.

Kerama Blue

Information on submitting your film!

Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (SSFF & ASIA), the first Academy Awards® accredited film festival in Japan and one of Asia’s largest international short film festivals, began accepting submissions for its 2016 edition on August 1, 2015 (Sat).

Please access the Call for Entries page via the official festival website (www.shortshorts.org/) for further details on the submission process.

[550
post-8574","news_en","type-news_en","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","e_news_cat-creators
["GET
