Today we hosted the final day of Cinema Museum \u2013 Fall Screening Event \u2013 at Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum. Ueno Park was bustling with people out enjoying the sunny weather, but you\u2019ll be pleased to know we had a great crowd of people inside the museum hall too!<\/p>\n

The events kicked off with \u201cTabimoja Presents the Attraction of Japan.\u201d Here we screened a selection of top promotional tourism films, and welcomed local mascot characters Mican and Shima-nekko to the stage to join Tabimoja\u2019s own official mascot, Moja. Audience members were overwhelmed with the cuteness and charm of the mascots, the sound of camera shutters filling the room as soon as they took to the stage.<\/p>\n

Following this, the \u201cArt Short Film Program\u201d proved to be an excellent success once again. As the last film screening of the event, it seems that attendees to the museum were very happy to have a final chance to catch such a wide variety of short films on the theme of art.<\/p>\n

Finally, we wrapped up the day with a creators\u2019 workshop led by Executive Creative Director Morihiko Hasabe. Hasabe, who served as a Cannes Lions 2015 juror earlier this year, explained the history of Cannes Lions, established in 1954. After introducing the 18 categories that comprise Cannes Lions, he introduced an excellent selection of award-winning commercial films (advertising short films), explaining the value and attraction of each work and touching on checkpoints such as storytelling and film craft. To finish up, the audience also had the chance to enjoy some short films with powerful messages. These included titles such as \u201cShabu-Shabu Spirit\u201d by Yuki Saito, created in partnership with Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in order to promote \u201cwa-shoku\u201d (Japanese Food) overseas, and \u201cTANAKA,\u201d a 2001 short film production from Australia, starring Hasabe.<\/p>\n
