SSFF & ASIA 2020 has Started! (Sep. 16th)
Academy Awards©︎ accredited & Asia’s biggest international short film festival had its Opening Ceremony on 09/16/2020 for mass media at Meiji Jingu Kaikan Hall.
This year’s 22nd edition of the festival, which is usually held in June, was postponed to the Coronavirus. This year the festival is held from 09/16 – 09/27 at 4 venues as well as online which are viewed throughout Japan.
Over 150 carefully selected short films from 112 countries & regions are available online (only in Japan). With additional short film that are screened at the venues, over 200 short films are shown. Among the stars participating in the Opening Ceremony were actress Ayame Goriki; Jun Kaname & Megumi Okina, the co-stars of “Happy Birthday,” the short film version of the winning Book Short Project, ARUHI Award; & the star of “Story of Shahryar” the film version of the winner of the 5th Book Short Award, Maiko Fukuda.
In addition, we announced the start-up of the LEXUS OPEN FILM Project with the aim to support up & coming new filmmakers & also the selected short film.
In this Ceremony, 5 AWARDS were announced and awarded: Save the Earth! Minister of the Environment Award / J-WAVE Award,
Shibuya Diversity Award, Musical Short Film Pitch Competition, and Book Shorts Award.
