We are proud to present SSFF & ASIA’s first-ever screening event offering a new kind of cinematic audio experience—one that separates movie audio into “dialogue” and “sound effects” for the audience.

This experience is made possible through the collaboration of NTT Group’s first-ever audio brand nwm (Noom) and its on-ear speaker device, along with “acoustic XR technology” from NTT ExC Partner. While realistic sounds such as dialogue and music resonate from the speakers, virtual sounds—specially tuned for each film—are delivered right to your ears.

From ambient sounds that surround you, to footsteps approaching from behind, and delicate sound effects that reflect the characters’ emotions—these virtual sounds blend with real-world audio to create a multi-dimensional soundscape that synchronizes perfectly with the screen, taking film audio to the next level.

What’s Acoustic Extended Reality (XR) technology?

 Acoustic XR is a new audio experience that transcends the boundary between the real and the virtual, proposed by NTT Computer & Data Science Laboratories.

For example, on stage, not only can you hear the actors’ lines, but even whispers—normally inaudible to the audience—reach your ears. At a concert, the vocals sound clearer than ever while preserving the live atmosphere. During a sports event, you can feel the excitement of the crowd while hearing commentary and analysis as if it’s coming from right beside you.

This is made possible by NTT’s proprietary technologies:

• The “on-ear speaker” open-ear earphones featuring PSZ (Personalized Sound Zone) technology, which allows you to hear clearly without blocking your ears or worrying about sound leakage.
• NTT’s unique Acoustic XR technology, which seamlessly blends real ambient sound with virtual audio delivered through the earphones.
