Nowadays, the short film is recognized for its affinity to the diverse and quickly evolving media environment we inhabit. It is acclaimed for its character as a universal communication tool, as well as for its intense creative expression, compressed in a short period of time. These characteristics make the short film well suited to the life-style of modern people living in a fast-paced global society.
This year, the Japan Association for the 2005 World Exposition organizes the 2005 World Exposition, Aichi, Japan. It also presents the gShort Shorts Film Festival EXPO 2005h for the purpose of embodying the expression of visual contents under the theme of the EXPO 2005, gNaturefs Wisdom.h We received 2,773 films from 89 countries with the theme. The films selected for competition from this vast field of submission screen nightly at 9pm.
We will announce and screen the Grand Prix winner and other award winning and invited films at a special live event at the Main Festival on September 10th. The award-winning films and the Special Invitation Films will screen nightly from September 11th, to 24th at the EXPO Plaza.
By presenting films that represent a rich variety of cultures, ethnicities, nationalities, and values, we believe that the Short Shorts Film Festival encourages cultural exchange, communication, and understanding. We are honored to present this meaningful event at the 2005 World Exposition.

Starting on April 26th, the Short Shorts Film Festival EXPO 2005 presents
screenings of the best films from prior Short Shorts Film Festivals followed by screenings of
the official SSFF EXPO competition films that were selected from 2,773 entries.
