Announcement of SSFF & ASIA 2025 Shot List vol.3
We will release a shortlist from among the October entries for the Academy Award® eligible categories (Live-action Competitions, Animation Competition, and Non-fiction Competition) for the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2025.
In October, we received a total of 351 entries. Notably, many entries came from the United States (15%), followed by France (12%) and China (7%). We were thrilled to receive submissions from Ecuador and Zimbabwe. Of the submitted films, 6.3% were created by first-time filmmakers, and 5.4% were student projects. Additionally, 22% of the films were directed by filmmakers under the age of 30. Again, a notable 45% of the entries were submitted to our live-action International Competition.
October did not disappoint, and in honor of the season, we received a notable number of fantasy, horror, and sci-fi films. Regarding genre and duration, 67% of the submitted films were dramas, and 9% belonged to the horror genre. A trending theme this month was the coming-of-age films, and the carefree days of an endless summer.
