Japan Shorts Program was screened atin Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival 2018!
In February, SSFF & ASIA participated at the 40th anniversary of Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival to promote Japanese short films around the world.
Here, we will introduce some events that were held during the festival.
To begin with, Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival is known as one of the greatest short film festivals in the world, where international filmmakers, festival directors and programmers, distributors, buyers, and film commissions participate from all around the globe.
Our staff arrived in the city on the 4th (Sun), a day before the official opening of the film market. After completing the registration for accreditation in the main venue, we held meetings with distributors and foreign festival directors from the afternoon.
On the next day, we participated in the Short Film Conference organized by festival directors worldwide. During the conference, we had a chance to learn about film festivals in Africa, and there were also many exciting debates held around the topic “How can film festivals continue to operate?”.
On the 6th, film festival programmers and directors came together for the Festival in Person event to have a one-to-one discussion with filmmakers and distributors. SSFF & ASIA also participated in the event to introduce our festival and regulations for submission. Numerous events were held to connect festival participants, such as film screenings and panel discussions for filmmakers and industry professionals, as well as breakfast events hosted by film commissions and Happy Hours with drinks and food in the evening.
SSFF & ASIA also organized a Japan Shorts program on the same night aimed for industry professionals. The venue had a full house, which was filled with cheerful reactions and laughter.
