[REPORT ]First Day of Screening in Yokohama!

The national tour of SSFF & ASIA in Yokohama started with the War & the Power to Live Program supported by Red Cross, which aims to share the way of caring and making peace to support everyone’s “Power to Live.” The selection was made with support from Red Cross and was introduced at the festival in June.

The very first George Lucas Award (Grand Prix) winning short “Benjamin’s Last Day At Katong Swimming Complex” screened in the Award Winning Shorts Program 2. The film was based on the director’s experience in his boyhood. He participated at the festival in June and seemed happy to see that his film touched many of the audience in ways he didn’t even expect.

“Preparing for Quakes” also screened in the Award Winning Shorts Program 2 and was made to share the importance of disaster prevention, self-help and helping one another. The film is also currently screening at Yokohama Disaster Risk Reduction Learning Center with Japanese, English, Chinese and Korean subtitles.

Tomorrow, the award winning short films of newly established competitions – Non-Fiction Competition and Student Competition supported by FELLOWS, will be screened. The event will continue until this Sunday so please come to Yokohama and enjoy the great short film selections!
