Hey kids.
Well here we are, the last program today & tomorrow's the final day of the festival. Directors Chris Roche for "Transit," Jerome de Garlache of "The Meeting," and screenwriter Heiner Rosch of "The Bill" came out for the Q&A & it was one of the best.
Chris was asked about filming in an airport & of course not filmed @ an airport. Much too expensive & the logistics impossible. He filmed in the building @ a racetrack. Some extras with suitcases + some sound effects & voila! it's an airport. Sure had everyone fooled!
Jerome's cool comedy of errors involves the lead driving a car at high speed to make it back for an important job interview. His driver was a pro (he'd driven in a number of big French action movies including "Taxi), the problem was he wanted to do his driving in the middle of Paris! Of course that was impossible so Jerome found an old driving circuit in the suburbs for the high speed scenes. Good one.
Writer Heiner from Berlin, of "The Bill" which is in the Stop! Global Warming is a cleverly constructed story of 3 friends talking about stuff while enjoying a drink at a bar. The terrific punch-line at the end by the barmaid made this a "smart" film about global warming. Simply & well-directed by Peter Wedel. Thanks to the three creators & let's go for that beer now!
