He was born in Mexico City. He studied English Literature and has written, produced and directed for theater, film and TV. He has written and directed two long features, “Rudo y Cursi” and “Besos de azúcar” (Sugar Kisses), which he also produced. His screenwriting credits include Alfonso Cuarón’s “Sólo con tu pareja” (Love in the time of hysteria), Carlos Marcovich’s “¿Quién diablos es Juliette?” (Who the hell is Juliette?), José Luis García Agraz’s “El misterio del Trinidad”, and Alfonso Cuarón’s “Y tu mamá también” with which he won the Venice Film Festival’s Silver Lion for best screenplay and nominations for the BAFTA and Oscar Award. He was a producer in Jonás Cuarón’s “Desierto” and associate producer in Niels Mueller’s “The assassination of Richard Nixon” and Sebastian Cordero’s “Crónicas”.
