Isamu Hirabayashi (1972, Shizuoka) started as a graphic designer and then moved on to become a commercial video director. His short films have played at Cannes, Venice, Berlin and Sundance Film Festivals. His 2012 film 663114 won the Noburo Ofuji Award, which honors excellence and innovation in Japanese animation.
