SHORT SHORTS FILM FESTIVAL & ASIA 2015

Screenings of the SSFF 2015 started today at BSST in Yokohama today!

There were 4 programs, the Children’s Program, the Kaoshung Film Festival Program, the French Film Festival Program and the CG Animation-B Program. Though it was a weekday, many people came the theater to see the programs.

We had many guests from France today; Mr. Bertrand Rouchit, Programmer of the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, Mr. Fabrice Preel-Cleach (Producer of “Savage Night”) and Mr. Alexandre Charlet (Producer of “Gueule De Loup”) .

In France, short films are much more common than here in Japan, and like the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, there are many film festivals for short films only.

It was also interesting to know that short films are used in the educational scenes from babies as young as 18 months old to teenagers in high school. There are even film festivals only for children. Being able to see various films and feeling the art of short films from such a young age must be how the French people cultivate their creativity.

We hope that short films in Japan can become as common as in France, as a place for young film makers to make their way in the professional world!
