UULA-winner

Winner’s Comment from Music Shorts Competition UULA Award winner Iori Fujiwara!

I am very honored to receive this award. I am most grateful to the SSFF for giving me a chance. I greatly appreciate the support of my team members and family.
Thank you so much.

The theme song ‘WARATTETE (Keep on smiling),’ sung by Tomoko Tane, was originally made to cheer up the victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake. Considering this, I felt apprehensive about using the song in my film. I now feel, however, that this was the only song for the film. “SHIORI” is not about the earthquake, but the story of a girl who stands up against a sudden loss and moves forward. I hope this film gives audiences an opportunity to realize the happiness behind living a life without any problems.

In order to restore the memory of her that Tetsuo lost in an accident, Shiori makes bookmarks of herself to give to him everyday.

Tomoko Tane made her major debut in 1985 with “You’re The One” by CBS Sony. She writes, composes and arranges her music by herself, and her songs are frequently featured in TV series, movies and commercials, including films by acclaimed Japanese director Masayuki Suo. In 2009, she established her own label, Tamagosha.
