People forced to leave for survival ? Potential of visual media to show the world today.
Ms. Chika Suefuji, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) project coordinator, and Tetsuya Bessho, President of SSFF & ASIA, will talk about people who are forced to move for survival. Focusing on people compelled to live as refugees or internally displaced persons including Syrians and Rohingya people, they discuss humanitarian crises, voices of those living in the situation, and the potential of motion pictures to show the world today.

MSF Project Coordinator
Born in Tokyo in 1988. She graduated from Hosei University and started working with a Japanese international cooperation NGO. She joined MSF as administrator responsible for resources and finance in 2018 after working with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and completing her master’s degree at Paris Institute of Political Studies. Since 2020 she has been leading MSF operations as projector coordinator in various places including Bangladesh, Syria, Philippines and Iraq.
Tetsuya Bessho

President of Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia
Tetsuya Bessho debuted in Hollywood in 1990 with the US-Japan joint film "Solar Crisis." In recent years, he has performed in stage productions of "Les Miserables," "Nine the Musical," and "Urinetown." In 2010, he received the Iwatani Tokiko Award Encouragement Prize from the Iwatani Tokiko Foundation. He founded Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia in 1999, which he remains the president of, and received an award from the chief of the Agency for Cultural Affairs. He has also assumed the position of "Visit Japan Ambassador," part of the Japan Tourism Agency initiative, and is a member of the expert panel to strengthen content at the Cabinet Secretariat’ s Intellectual Property Strategy Headquarters, Goodwill Ambassador to the Qatar Friendship Fund, City of Yokohama Committee Member, and EIRN(film classification and rating committee)commission of councilor.
