History of SSFF & ASIA
～簡史回顧20年影展之路～
影展放映了美国高品质的短片电影，包括美国奥斯卡金像奖及圣丹斯电影节获奖作品，还有首次在国外放映的乔治‧卢卡斯(George Lucas)导演早期执导作品，之后历届影展均获得乔治‧卢卡斯的支持。

影展在东京举办之后，在札幌、名古屋、大阪、冲绳开展全国巡回放映。
影展正式更名为Shortshorts Film Festival(SSFF)，发展成为介绍全世界电影作品的国际电影节。
首次登陆电影之都美国洛杉矶，在好莱坞埃及剧院举办电影节。
成为美国奥斯卡金像奖官方认可的电影节。电影节首奖获奖作品，获得下一年度奥斯卡金像奖短片竞赛单元提名作品候补资格。
与东京都合作，创办聚焦亚洲和日本作品的电影节，之后两个电影节以“Shortshorts Film Festival & Asia (SSFF & ASIA)”之名联合举办”。
爱知世博会，在爱・地球博这个母题之下，以“自然的睿智”为题，举办“Shortshorts Film Festival EXPO 2005”。

Shortshorts Film Festival创办10周年，Shortshorts Film Festival Aisa创办5周年。
在横滨港未来21（Yokohama Minato Mirai 21）开设了专门放映短片的电影院Brillia Short Shorts Theater。
与环境省合作开设“STOP！地球温暖化单元”，之后更名为“拯救地球单元”。
增设音乐短片单元，与观光厅合作开设旅行短片项目。
东日本大地震发生后，在“以影像之力让日本微笑”的主题下，举办慈善短片制作和慈善拍卖等活动。
开始与韩亚国际短片电影节（韩国）、台湾高雄电影节（台湾）等国外短片电影节合作，SSFF & ASIA选集开始在世界各地的短片电影节上放映。
将首届影展开幕日期6月4日定位“短片电影日”。
Shortshorts Film Festival创办15周年，Shortshorts Film Festival Aisa创办10周年。

通过当地的影像来介绍日本各地魅力的网站“TABIMOJA”正式上线。
2012年度首奖获得者平柳敦子执导的短片《Oh Lucy!》在戛纳电影节、圣丹斯电影节广获关注。
征集短篇小说，并将其制作成短片电影的“Book Short”项目启动。
以推广企业或团体的品牌为目的的品牌电影特辑项目“Branded Shorts”启动。
2016年首奖获奖作品《校合唱团的秘密（Sing）》（导演：迪亚克·克里斯托弗）获奥斯卡金像奖最佳真人短片。
与EXILE队长HIRO引领的艺能事务所LDH合作，启动短片制作项目“CINEMA FIGHTERS”。
Brillia Short Shorts Theater闭馆。10年历史，落下帷幕。

My experience with my initial short film set the tone for a filmmaking career full of tales of fantasy and adventure that continues to this day.
A short film is a challenge of precision and poetry. For the young filmmaker, it is also a wonderful platform to showcase their talents.
I'm a big fan of short subject films and believe that as an art form they are as relevant now as ever before.
Short films are a great opportunities to express creativity while learning the craft of filmmaking.
The two shorts with which I started my film career were very important in finding my own cinematic “Handwriting”
Film Festival is the place that we can feel like we want to come back again. We can share with our buddies (young filmmakers) who making films in the world, and we get energy for making films, then go back to each place.
If you make short films, you can begin to see things, more clearly, that you can turn into a 2 hour feature film.
If you want to be moved by films, short is better. I long for this to be the ultimate goal.
In short films, there is an atmosphere that is not present in anything else. It is a world where an artist's distilled essence can be appreciated.
Movies are an enduring form of journalism. Movies make philosophy.
