アニメーションにできること 『ムーム』上映&堤大介監督トークイベント
2016年05月01日
In this event, we welcome Daisuke Tsutsumi, founder of “Tonko House”, an animation studio established in 2014. He will talk about the future of animation. We will also be airing the newest piece from Tonko House, “Moom”.
“Moom” is the first collaboration project with a Japanese production company for Tonko House. It is based on a picture book called “Moom” by Genki Kawamura, famous for his best selling novel, “What if all the cats in the world disappeared”. In a world without humans, Moom, the main character goes through junk in the lake, finds memories of the previous owners, and returns them to the sky. Then one day, Moom meets Rumin, a memory that is always crying. Similar to “The Dam Keeper”, the pictures drawn with vivid yet subtle lighting and colors are filled with warmth and kindness.
The mission of Tonko House is to “create stories that deliver both entertainment and awareness for people of all ages and nationalities”. “The Dam Keeper” proved that animation had the ability to do this. Why not take a look at the future of animation with infinite potentials?
Animation Director Daisuke “Dice” Tsutsumi’s directorial debut “Dam Keeper”, co-directed by Robert Kondo, impressively received a nomination for Best Animated Short Film in the 87th Academy Awards®.While at Pixar Animation Studio, he worked as a Lighting Art Director for “Toy Story 3” and “Monster’s University.” After his time there, he co-founded his animation studio, TONKO HOUSE. In this session, he will discuss his experience at Pixar, the future of TONKO HOUSE and his new animation “MOOM.”
