Screening and Award presentation of ‘FutureCity Yokohama Award Award’ nominated films
To promote “FutureCity Yokohama,” the City of Yokohama and SSFF & ASIA established the “FutureCity Yokohama Award,” featuring short films that best depict environmentally conscious, future lifestyles that make use of technological advancements. The 2015 Award winner was Oh Seo-Roi’s “Artist 110.” Once again, we’ll be presenting the 2016 Award to the film that best embodies the Future City and Yokohama themes. Join us in exploring the potential of the future and possible lifestyles, through short films.

The FutureCity Yokohama program was established together with the festival in 2013, and will celebrate its 4th year running. Once again, I appreciate the amount of submissions to the program.
As a “FutureCity”, Yokohama has been participating in the challenge to preserve the environment by supporting the construction of a sustainable urban image, as well as encouraging the development of communities. The city endorses the idea of fostering creativity and encouraging arts and culture with the Brillia Short Shorts Theater. It is located in Minato Mirai and is one of the festival’s official venues.
We select films that best depict the environment, urban city and lifestyles of the future, and we promote FutureCity Yokohama through various events including a children’s event called “FutureCity and Picture Diary of Environment”. As part of the SSFF & ASIA National Tour, we will hold screenings for the FutureCity Yokohama program, which will feature nominated films and include an award presentation. We hope that by attending these screenings you will have an opportunity to consider the city and future ways of living.
