SSFF & ASIA proudly presents “Short Film Selection” from French Film Festival
2016. The lineup consists of various short films, ranging from a nimation to
human drama, directed by upcoming French filmmakers.
Eight-year-old Aida lives in Paris. When her father returns from Senegal, the family’s homeland, their father has not returned alone, but is accompanied by a young Senegalese woman, Rama, who he introduces as his second wife. Aida sees how distraught her mother is, and decides to get rid of the newcomer.

A diorama represents two young soldiers in the trenches. All of a sudden, the immobile soldiers come to life, terror on their faces. Explosions, chaos, fog. With every gunshot, they shudder. “Uncanny Valley” questions representation of war and refreshes the memory of the trenches with a contemporary audiovisual language.
