Eight-year-old Aida lives in Paris. When her father returns from Senegal, the family's homeland, their father has not returned alone, but is accompanied by a young Senegalese woman, Rama, who he introduces as his second wife. Aida sees how distraught her mother is, and decides to get rid of the newcomer.

Maïmouna is a prize-winner of the scenario's competition “Hlm sur court.” She self-produced her first short film, “Hide and Seek.” "Mother(s)" is her first film created in cooperation with a production company.
