6月4日表参道ヒルズ スペース オー会場 上映プログラムレポート
2016年06月05日
Starting our second day in Omotesando, I am sorry that DJ John is not here with us today, instead I will be telling you about what went on.
That’s me on stage 😉
The first program of the day was “War and the Power to Live Program” supported by Red Cross 2. Director Stephane Landowski from “Our Fallen Heros” joined with us in the screening,
and told me that the program was very well planed. I truly agree with him! Four screening films take place in different countries and situations, and at the end comes a short about a kid who interviewed John Lennon, that gives a moment to all of us to think about what is war and peace after all.
Director Landowski also shared with us the message he wanted to tell thru his short, is that wars do not have true endings. They don’t only happen in battlefields or in a specific period of time. It effects everyone around and could be happening right next to us. That is why, we have to keep on thinking, “what is peace?”. I thank Director Landowski for sharing his deep thoughts!
And now, switching our brain to the next theme, it’s all about fashion!
Fashion shorts are getting more attention in recent years, and our festival is bringing you more fashion shorts than ever.
Director Kenji Hirano brought his short “Je te veux”, which depicts sweet and evil sides of women, and has won several awards in foreign short festivals. He said, he wants more Japanese people to work on fashion shorts, so they would become more familiar to Japanese, just like how music shorts became very common. I hope to see more shorts from him in coming years, to lead the fashion shorts in Japan! And of course, from everyone who is interested 😉
And for CG Animation Program 2—
We screened 9 animation shorts, and one of them was “Moom” created by Daisuke Tsutsumi, a leading Japanese animation director. I will be writing more about him and his shorts tomorrow!
Today, Director Yu Sato screened his first animation, “01001001.” His work was a bit different from other screened animations. It seemed more like an “anime” piece of work.
He said, he wanted to make a CG animation that includes a taste of “anime”, and create a CG that has Japanese uniqueness.
That’s it for today’s 3 programs, and I’ll be writing more about our special program, featuring Leslie Kee and Virtual Reality in different pages. Please, check them out too!
See you then.
