In commemoration of the 150th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relation between Japan and Belgium, this program brings you short films of various genres including classic masterpieces to the newest ones.
When you hear Belgium, what comes to your mind? If you like food, you may think of waffles and beer. If you are interested in international politics, you might recognize it as the capital of EU. But many people may not be familiar with Belgium’s diplomatic relationship with Japan.
In this program, we will be airing “È pericoloso sporgersi”, a short film by Jaco Van Dormael that won the grand prix prize at the Clermont-Ferrand short film festival in 1985.
It is the origin on “Mr. Nobody”, so it may be interesting to watch both films. Furthermore, his newest film, “The Brand New Testament” will be airing in Japan from May 27th, 2016 (Fri) in Japan.
Here is another film from the program. This is an animated film called “FLAT LIFE” by director Jonas Geirnaert.
We’ve all heard of the name, but there are many things we still do not know about Belgium, our friendly nation. Why not learn a thing or two through short films?
