Isao Yukisada
Born in Kumamoto prefecture
His first film “Sunflower” (00), received the International Federation prize in the 5th Pusan International Film Festival. From this, he gained recognition as a powerful director. Additionally, “GO” (01) received more than 50 awards around the world, which included the Japan Academy Prize for Best Director. “Sekai no Chushin de Ai o Sakebu” drew an audience of over 6 million, and made approximately 8.5 billion yen, making it a huge hit in live action films for that year. In 2010, “Parêdo” won an International Federation prize in the 60th Berlin International Film Festival. His masterpieces include “YEAR ONE IN THE NORTH”(05), “Snowy Love Fallin’in Spring”(05),”Closed Note”(07),” “GOOD HUSBAND”(10), “Tsuya No Yoru” (13), “Entaku” (14) and “Mayonaka no gofunmae”(14). He has also worked on TV dramas such as “Buenos Aires Zero Hour” (14), “Shumi no Heya” (13・15) and “Tango at the end of winter” (15). In January 2016, his achievements were recognized and he received a prize at the 18th Koreda Senda (name) in Mainichi.
